I mix music.

Mixing music is an art and a science. An exercise of the mind and an expression of the heart. As a mixer, my job is to the chase emotion of a song and serve the artist and producer's vision with EQs, compressors, tape saturation, delays, reverbs, etc.

The moment I sit down to do a mix, the search is on for the golden nugget in the song. The centerpiece. The beauty. Or the pain. Or both. I'm constantly asking the question — "What is the artist trying to say through this song?"

Sometimes it whispers. Sometimes it shouts. Sometimes I know right away where to go with a mix. Other times, it takes a couple hours. Either way is fine, but I'm not going to stop until I find that "thing". The thing that moves me and makes me want to dance or cry or go for a long drive.

I'm chasing emotion. I'm chasing story. I'd love to hear yours.
